In a private meeting held at a hotel in Mexico City, governors from northwestern states outlined priority projects for 2025 to the prospective president, Claudia Sheinbaum

Baja California Sur Governor Víctor Manuel Castro, Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha, Nayarit Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro as well as Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos, and representatives from Baja California and Sonora presented their proposals at the meeting, which the upcoming secretaries of state attended.

"What is the objective of these meetings? To review the priority infrastructure projects and other issues. So, each governor presented their priority projects, especially regarding infrastructure, mobility, roads, and water," Claudia Sheinbaum stated at a press conference following the private meeting.

For example, they discussed the Guaymas-Chihuahua highway and initiated the national housing plan in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. Education and health topics, such as the IMSS-Bienestar program, were also addressed.

After this meeting, the upcoming secretaries will follow up on the projects presented. "This will greatly help us define the 2025 budget that is already being prepared and will be submitted in November to the House of Representatives, the entire budget package to Congress, and as you can see, we are already working ahead," Claudia Sheinbaum reported.

Following the meeting, Víctor Castro said that he presented "urgent necessity projects" to the prospective president of Mexico, such as road modernization and housing access.

"In the meeting with Claudia Sheinbaum and members of the upcoming cabinet, we presented projects that are urgent and need to be prioritized, such as the modernization of the transpeninsular highway, access to decent housing, the construction of the traffic distributor (Glorieta Fonatur) in San José del Cabo, and a rescue plan for the ecological reserve in the Estero of the same town," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

A new era begins

Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos, asserting that a new era is beginning in the relationship between state and federal governments, reported that the state has two essential road projects: the Guaymas-Chihuahua highway and the Cerocahui-Los Mochis road.

"Both routes are essential to strengthen connectivity with Sinaloa and Sonora. We also discussed the infrastructure of the border city; it is imperative to ensure the conditions for investment for Chihuahuans and investors," she said.

She detailed that one of her main objectives is to leverage the state's geographical location as a border with the U.S.
