The Attorney General's Office of Mexico (FGR) has disclosed new developments following the arrest of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada. Among the updates, they announced the preparation of an arrest warrant against Joaquín Guzmán López, son of "El Chapo," who is accused of kidnapping the co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel to hand him over to U.S. authorities.

The son of "El Chapo" now faces additional legal implications in Mexico for "the illegal deprivation of a person's liberty on national territory to hand them over to authorities of another country, transporting them out of Mexico for that purpose," according to the statement.

FGR uncovers the origin of the plane that transported "El Mayo".

In a press release, the FGR revealed the location from which Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada's plane took off when he was kidnapped and transported to El Paso, Texas, for his arrest. This clue was among other revelations, though they have not disclosed the location where his escorts were ambushed to capture the most wanted Mexican cartel leader.

"They have managed to precisely establish the origin of the plane used in the alleged kidnapping of Ismael 'N,'" the statement reads.

The property where former UAS rector Héctor Melesio Cuén was killed located

Furthermore, the Attorney General's Office located the property where Héctor Melesio Cuén was allegedly kidnapped and killed. The Criminal Investigation Agency has secured the site as investigations continue.

"The property where the alleged crimes of illegal deprivation of liberty, homicide, injuries, and acts related to forced disappearance occurred, and which are connected to the attack that led to the death of Héctor 'N,' has been located," reads a post on the FGR's social media platform X.

Additionally, the statement dismissed the theory from a video circulated on social media in recent weeks, which purportedly showed the former rector being shot to death—a scene that had been refuted by workers at the establishment and by those who had access to the autopsy, as it did not align with the evidence in the video.

"It is unacceptable and lacks credible evidence to be considered in the manner it was presented," the statement concluded.

AMLO: U.S. Government Had an Agreement with Guzmán López

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced during his morning press conference today that the U.S. Government was negotiating an agreement with Guzmán López and was unaware that Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada was also on the plane.

“We know that the U.S. Government had an agreement with Guzmán López, that they were in communication for a possible deal (...), but they didn’t know that Mr. Zambada was also on the plane or arriving in U.S. territory. This is what is officially known from the ongoing investigation by the Attorney General's Office,” he stated.

He also clarified that the investigation is ongoing and that the Attorney General's Office is responsible for continuing to report the findings.
