Since its inception in 1989, the International Book Fair of Anthropology and History (FILAH) has consistently fulfilled its primary objective: to establish itself as one of the most significant specialized literary gatherings in Mexico and Latin America. Overcoming tremendous challenges, such as the global lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the fair continues to thrive, a testament to the resilience and determination of our community.

In 2024, the 35th edition of FILAH, supported by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) and the Federal Ministry of Culture, will reinforce this mission. With Belize and Quintana Roo as our guests of honor, and most importantly, with the support of our audience, for whom we work tirelessly every year, we are poised to exceed the 160,000 attendees who joined us in 2023.

From August 8 to 18, the magnificent National Museum of Anthropology's central courtyard, auditoriums, halls, and other spaces will come alive with a rich program of activities. The theme "Cultural Heritage and Sustainability" will guide our reflections on major contemporary issues such as climate change, population dynamics, tourism, and urban development.

A notable highlight will be our collaboration with Quintana Roo, exploring the development and implementation of one of the most significant social and infrastructure projects of our time: the Maya Train. This in-depth exploration will provide our audience with a comprehensive understanding of this groundbreaking initiative.

FILAH will pay tribute to distinguished researchers in the humanities, including social anthropologist Eckart Boege Schmidt and poet Juan Domingo Argüelles. Other honorees include anthropologists Teresa Morales Lesch and Cuauhtémoc Camarena Ocampo, museographer Manuel Gándara Vázquez, filmmaker Ángeles Cruz, and archaeologist Manuel Pérez Rivas.

The fair offers a plethora of cultural and educational activities for all ages, with a diverse range of 70 workshops for youth and children covering topics such as cartonería, screen printing, Mexican Sign Language, journalism, and creative writing. This variety promises an exciting and enriching experience for all our attendees.

Additionally, five temporary exhibitions will complement the FILAH experience—one in the Open Gallery of the Rejas del Bosque de Chapultepec and four within the museum. Visitors can also enjoy various performances at our Artistic Forum.

We invite you to join us in celebrating the written word, science, academia, and everything related to humanity, memory, and heritage. We look forward to welcoming you!
