AMLO and Sheinbaum Condemn the Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump

Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena also reacted to the assassination attempt

After the assassination attempt on Donald Trump today, Saturday, July 13, 2024, in Pennsylvania, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo condemned the attack on the former president. The severity of his injuries is still unknown, although it appears he was shot near the ear.

Around 16:40 hours, the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, condemned the assassination attempt on Republican Donald Trump:

"One way or another, we condemn what happened to former President Donald Trump. Violence is irrational and inhumane," AMLO detailed.

The president-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, also condemned the assassination attempt on Donald Trump today, Saturday, July 13, 2024. She did so through her X account:

"We agree with President @lopezobrador_. Violence leads nowhere," detailed the next president of Mexico.

For its part, the White House detailed that President Joe Biden has already received an initial report on the attack on Donald Trump, an event that has not occurred since 1981 with Ronald Reagan.

Mexico's Foreign Minister, Alicia Bárcena, also commented on the assassination attempt on Republican and former President Donald Trump today, Saturday, July 13:

"The attack on former President Trump is reprehensible. Nothing justifies political violence. In a democracy, the freedom of ideas leaves no room for these acts. From México, strong rejection by President @lopezobrador_ and the virtual president-elect @Claudiashein."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the act of violence suffered by the Republican in Pennsylvania and did so through its official X account:

"The @SRE_mx condemns the act of violence against former President Donald Trump that occurred today in Pennsylvania, United States, and wishes him a speedy recovery. We condemn any act of violence that attacks the free expression of people."
