President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that the issue of avocado and mango exports to the United States would be resolved today, and also mentioned that the exports are normalizing.

During the morning press conference, he explained that the problem arose after a protest by police officers against inspectors, who were not allowed to pass and ended up in a verbal altercation.

AMLO indicated that the Mexican government asked the neighboring country not to act unilaterally, as both entities work together and not in that "manner."

"Well, significant progress has been made. I believe it will be resolved today, and the export of avocados and mangoes is already normalizing... What happened was an incident; there was a protest by police officers against inspectors who were not allowed to pass, and from there, the US government wanted to stop avocado exports. We asked the US government not to act unilaterally because we work together, and that’s not the way to do it," he stated.

The federal president reiterated that the issue is already being addressed and thanked the US ambassador, Ken Salazar, for visiting the state of Michoacán today to resolve the matter.
