Starting August 23, Ciudad Juárez will transform into a grand stage to fondly remember the life, work, and cultural contributions of Juan Gabriel to the border city.

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, is gearing up for ten days of festivities. As the music and legacy of Alberto Aguilera Valadez, better known as Juan Gabriel, echo through the streets of this vibrant border town.

The new edition of the Festival Juárez Juangabrielísimo, set to begin on August 23 and conclude on September 1, promises to be a full celebration of the life and work of the singer-songwriter who, although born in Michoacán, left a significant legacy in Ciudad Juárez.

The reopening of the Juan Gabriel Museum, located in the former home of the famous Mexican artist, marks the beginning of the third edition of a festival that brings together thousands of people to pay tribute to the beloved “Divo de Juárez.”

Concerts, street performances, singing and dancing contests, charreadas (rodeo events), light projections on the main streets and historic buildings of Ciudad Juárez, and even a sports race are all part of the festival’s program.

Reopening of the Juan Gabriel Museum

Created by Alberto Aguilera Valadez himself as a tribute to his millions of fans, the Juan Gabriel Museum is not only a journey through his work but also a testament to how Ciudad Juárez inspired him as an artist.

Through memorabilia, personal belongings, a specialized curation, and even a modern app that allows visitors to enjoy parts of the museum in augmented reality, this venue invites you to fall in love with the border city.

The museum, located at 157 Colombia Street, Partido Romero neighborhood, Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, will reopen on August 23 at 8 pm, with a grand event planned to celebrate this new chapter.

Singing and Dancing for the “Divo”

A celebration dedicated to the man who made the cry “Arriba Juárez” an icon of Mexican culture wouldn’t be complete without musical performances inspired by the vast discography he left behind.

On August 24, you can explore Ciudad Juárez through a street procession ending at Juan Gabriel’s house. The following day, a marathon gathering of impersonators and fans will take place on a special stage.

Monday, August 26, and Tuesday, August 27, will be marked by the finals of singing and dancing contests. As the weekend approaches, specifically on Saturday, August 31, you can enjoy the symphonic tribute “De Gala con Juan Gabriel,” with the festivities culminating on Sunday, September 1, with a performance by Edith Márquez.

It’s worth noting that all 14 events, including access to the museum, will be completely free and family-friendly, making it an excellent excuse to visit Juárez.
