- 2011-2016: Served as Attorney General of California. From 2017 to 2021, she was a Senator.
- On August 11, 2020: Joe Biden named her as his running mate, making her the first Black woman to run for the position.
- On January 20, 2021, she took the oath of office as the first female Vice President of the United States.
- The progressive is married to lawyer Douglas Emhoff. They have a family that includes two children.
- "Momala" has written seven books, including "The Truths We Hold: An American Journey."
- In May 2023: She became the first woman to deliver a speech at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
