Claudia Sheinbaum with a 27-point lead for the presidency of Mexico according to the Covarrubias and Asociados Survey

Less than two months away from the presidential election in Mexico, which will take place on June 2, 2024, the candidate of the Let's Keep Making History coalition, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, stands in first place in citizen preference and maintains a good image, according to the Covarrubias and Asociados survey, for Heraldo Media Group. In the final stretch of his administration, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador records a 71 percent approval rating.

To the question "If today were the elections for President or President of the Republic, who would you vote for?", Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo obtained 54 percent support; the presidential candidate of the Strength and Heart for Mexico coalition, Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz, had 27 percent; the Movimiento Ciudadano aspirant, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, reached 5 percent, while 14 percent of those surveyed responded "don't know".

The methodology of this survey is based on a sample of one thousand five hundred cases, conducted from March 20 to 27, 2024, face-to-face in households with mobile devices to people over 18 years old with a voter ID.

The interviewees were also asked about their knowledge and image of the presidential aspirants in Mexico. The questions in this case are "Do you know or have you heard of...?" and "What is your opinion of her (him): very good, good, bad, or very bad?".

These questions revealed that 84 percent of the surveyed people know Sheinbaum Pardo. In terms of image, 17 percent considered her "very good"; 47 percent, "good"; 7 percent, "bad"; 3 percent, "very bad", and 10 percent, "don't know/no answer".

On the other hand, 74 percent of the surveyed people responded that they know Gálvez Ruiz. In terms of image, 3 percent considered her "very good"; 25 percent, "good"; 24 percent, "bad", 10 percent, "very bad", and 12 percent "don't know/no answer".

Finally, 27 percent of the surveyed responded that they know Álvarez Máynez. In terms of image, 1 percent answered "very good"; 11 percent, "good"; 6 percent, "bad"; 1 percent, "very bad", and 8 percent said "don't know/no answer".

Regarding voting intention, to the question "If today were the elections for President or President of the Republic, which party would you vote for?", Morena had 49 percent; PAN reached 14 percent; PRI, 9 percent; Movimiento Ciudadano reached 5 percent; Verde Ecologista, 4 percent; PT, 3 percent; PRD, 2 percent and 14 percent responded "don't know".

Regarding the performance of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to the question "Do you approve or disapprove of the performance of the president?", 71 percent of the interviewed people approve of it; 18 percent disapprove; 8 percent neither approve nor disapprove, and 3 percent "don't know".
